First, keep your work safe.
Save open work if you can. Do not erase files, reset a device or give out a password just to try a fix. If you think files are missing or a device is failing, stop making changes and get advice first.
1. Name the problem.
Which device or app is it? What were you trying to do? What happened instead? Write down the error words. You do not need to guess the cause.
2. Check the simple things.
- For a device with a power cable, check that it is connected. Use the device’s own instructions.
- For an online task, check whether another website opens. Note whether the problem is on one site or more than one.
- Note whether one app or the whole device is affected.
- Write down what you tried and what changed. Avoid repeating steps that did not help.
These are starting checks, not a diagnosis. They may not fit every problem. You do not need to complete them if you are unsure.
3. Use help that fits your device.
Using Windows?
Microsoft’s Get Help tools guide you through checks for common Windows problems, including printers and updates. Read each prompt before you agree to a change.
Open Microsoft’s Windows help ↗For another device or app, use its maker’s help pages for your exact model or version. Do not follow Windows steps on a different system.
4. Decide what comes next.
| What happened? | What can I do next? |

| It works now. | Stop here. Keep a note of what helped. |
| I want clear steps to follow myself. | Use the free help above. Tammy Builds guided kits and tools are being planned; none are on sale yet. |
| I am still stuck or do not feel sure. | Ask about a review. Include your device, the problem and what you tried. Any paid work needs an agreed scope and price. |
This page is self-service guidance. It does not inspect your device, promise a fix or book live support.
